FLORAL PRESERVATION

How Floral Preservation Works

Six steps, from the frame you pick to the piece on your wall. Here’s what happens behind the scenes.

It's more than a frame, it's a memory.

The short version

You order a frame. You send us your flowers. We press them, design the arrangement, show it to you, and seal it. Start to finish, most orders take 5 to 7 months.

Choosing a frame size and finish
STEP 1

Choose your frame

Pick a size and a finish. Four sizes, six finishes, starting at $340.

Frame size is personal preference. A small frame saves a handful of blooms as a keepsake from a special day, while a larger frame allows many flowers to be saved in a beautiful and distinct shape. Unless you have a petite bouquet, almost all wedding bouquets fit in our best seller, the 16x20 frame. We recommend our 18x24 frame for bouquets with a lot of variety and blooms, or if you are providing an extra arrangement to supplement.

Still deciding on your wedding flowers? Order the frame anyway. Up until we receive your flowers, we can accommodate any frame size changes. Once we receive and begin to press your flowers, no sizing changes are accepted.

STEP 2

Place your order

Placing your order, and confirming your drop-off or shipping plans, is what reserves your space in the press.

Your confirmation email arrives with two things in it: packing and shipping instructions, and a link to schedule a drop-off at our Gilbert studio.

We recommend ordering at least 1-2 months before your event.

STEP 3

Ship or drop off your flowers

We accept flowers up to five days after your event, depending on condition and how they have been stored. Sooner is always better.

Dropping off in Gilbert

Book a time using the link in your confirmation email. Our studio is appointment only, so a reserved slot is required. If you are running late, call us rather than arriving outside your window, since we cannot guarantee someone will be there to accept the delivery.

Shipping to us

Shipping to us is your responsibility and you may use any carrier. Keep the flowers in water and out of direct sun until you pack them, use the fastest service available, ideally overnight, and ship early in the week so the box is not sitting in a facility over a weekend. When your flowers are en route, send us the tracking number provided by the carrier.

Sending someone else

Most of our clients hand this off to a parent, a sibling, or someone from the wedding party. An appointment must be scheduled to reserve a drop-off time.

STEP 4

Pressing

Pressing a bouquet is incredibly time-consuming. Not all flowers press the same, or require the same technique to press. This is where using a professional preservationist is vital. Our experience and knowledge of the best methods for every single petal ensures the best possible outcome for your blooms.

We will notify you when your flowers come out of the presses and enter our design queue.

This is one of the longest parts of the process, but we are committed to doing it right.

STEP 5

Design and your approval

Our design team lays out your flowers for the size and finish you chose. Every arrangement is tailored for the flowers in front of us. There is no template, and no two come out the same.

When the layout is ready, we send it to you. Nothing gets sealed until you have seen it and told us to proceed.

If there are any adjustments you’d like, now is the time to let us know. We cannot make any changes after a frame is sealed.

STEP 6

Sealed and delivered

Once you approve the design, your blooms are secured to the glass and the frame is sealed behind UV-protected glass, on two panes of glass or a white board backing.

Picking up in Gilbert

Local frame pick-up is free at checkout. We will send a link to book a time once your frame is finished.

Having it shipped

Return shipping is optional and available anywhere in the country. Frames are packed for transit, and we will provide a tracking link from the shipping carrier so you can stay informed of the estimated arrival window.

Once it is on your wall

Keep it out of direct sunlight. UV glass slows fading but does not stop it. Hang it somewhere you will actually look at it.

What changes along the way

Color

When pressed, flowers may change shape, color, and even size. While not every color change is drastic, some may be surprising. White flowers turn hues of ivory, yellow, beige, which continues as they age. Varieties of pink and red flowers may turn different shades of purple. Some colors deepen in the press, while others fade to a softer version.

Shape

Pressing flattens. Your bouquet will read as a designed arrangement rather than a three-dimensional bunch, which is the point of a floating glass frame.

Over time

All of our frames feature UV-protected conservation glass. This helps preserve the flowers' color for as long as possible. However, because flowers are 100% natural materials, color fading is expected as they naturally and gracefully age.

01

An order before the flowers.

Placing your order, and scheduling your drop-off appointment or confirming your shipping plans, is what reserves your space in the press.

02

A shipping choice.

Use any carrier and use overnight shipping immediately after your event.

03

Fresh flowers.

Dried flowers crumble in the press instead of flattening.

04

Flowers within five days of your event.

Depending on condition and how they have been stored.

05

A reply when we send the design.

Nothing gets sealed until you have approved it.

QUESTIONS

Process questions

Most of that is pressing and waiting their turn in the design queue. Flowers have to dry fully under weight before they can be handled, and thicker blooms take longer. Pulling them early means they will not hold their shape and may mold in the frame. The rest is the design queue, your approval, and finishing.

Yes. An account login will be provided at checkout using the email you provide us. You can log in at any time and track the status of your order(s). We will also send you a notification when your flowers come out of the presses and enter our design queue, and again when the design is ready for your approval.

Up until we receive your flowers, we can accommodate any frame size changes. Once we receive and begin to press your flowers, no sizing changes are accepted.
