Accessibility Statement
Last Updated: 20 September 2026
ON THIS PAGE
The Petal Press wants this site to work for everyone who needs it, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard on its own, voice control, or a browser set to larger text. This page sets out what we are working to, what we have done, what we know still falls short, and how to tell us when something does not work.
The standard we are working to
We are working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We are not claiming that the site fully conforms to that standard today. Parts of it do, parts of it are still being brought up to it, and the honest position is that this is ongoing work rather than a finished job.
This statement is based on our own testing of the site. It has not been reviewed by an independent auditor.
What has been done
- Pages have a single main heading and a heading structure you can navigate by. Two thin utility pages are exceptions, listed below.
- Every page has a working skip-to-content link and a main landmark, so a keyboard or screen reader user can jump past the navigation.
- Buttons, links, menus and social icons that show only an icon carry a text label that a screen reader can announce.
- Text and background colors are checked against the AA contrast ratio, and headings, body text and captions all clear it.
- Buttons, links and form fields show a visible outline when reached by keyboard.
- Controls we build are sized to at least 44 by 44 pixels, apart from links inside sentences.
- Images that carry meaning have alternative text. Decorative images and background video are marked so a screen reader skips them.
- Forms have real labels, and errors are announced rather than only shown in color.
- Animation is turned off for anyone whose device asks for reduced motion.
- The site works without a mouse and reflows to a single column on a small screen without losing content or scrolling sideways.
What we know still falls short
Listing these is more useful than leaving them out.
- Links inside body text are smaller than the 44 pixel target. This is permitted under WCAG 2.5.8 because the same destination is reachable another way, but it is worth knowing if you find small targets difficult.
- Some product photography does not yet have alternative text written by a person rather than generated from the file name.
- Two standalone pages, our links page and our founder's page, are built without the site header, footer or skip link. Everything on them is reachable, but they do not share the rest of the site's navigation.
- Two thin utility pages do not have a main heading of their own.
- The cart and checkout are provided by a third-party plugin. We have styled them to match the rest of the site, but we do not control all of their markup.
- We have not yet completed an audit with assistive technology users. Until we have, this statement rests on our own testing.
Telling us about a problem
If any part of this site stops you doing what you came to do, tell us and we will fix it or find another way to help you. There is no form to fill in.
- Email team@petalpressflowers.com
- Call (928) 396-2497 during studio hours
Please tell us the page you were on and what happened. We reply to every accessibility report as soon as possible, and if something is blocking an order we will take the order over the phone instead.
If you are not satisfied
If you have told us about a problem and are not happy with how we handled it, reply to our email and ask for it to be looked at again. We would rather hear it twice than not at all.
